The 2025 International Conference for Couple and Family Relationships (ICCFR)
will be jointly hosted by the Southern California School of Couples and Family Therapy at Daybreak University (DBU) and the Korean Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (KAMFT). Organized under the auspices of the International Institute for Couples and Family Relationships (IICFR), the conference will convene at Daybreak University’s Anaheim campus and the Howard Johnson Conference Center in Fullerton.
Systemic Sex Therapy and Expressive Art Therapy in the Context of Diversity:
Perspectives on the Self-of-the-Therapist and Isomorphism

Dr. Nancy Gambescia is a distinguished expert in the field of Systemic Sex Therapy. Dr. Gambescia co-developed Systemic Sex Therapy and co-authored the renowned textbook on the subject, establishing herself as a leading authority in this area.
Conference attendees will have an extraordinary opportunity to learn directly from Dr. Gambescia about the core therapeutic techniques of Systemic Sex Therapy. Participants will experience live demonstrations, engage in hands-on clinical training, and gain invaluable insights into effective counseling practices.
Dr.Gambescia is a faculty member at the Council for Relationships (CFR) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and a certified clinical supervisor by the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT). With over 35 years of experience, she has trained and supervised numerous sexuality professionals and provided therapy to countless individuals and couples addressing a wide range of sexual concerns.
In Addition, Dr. Gambescia served as a clinical professor in the Couple and Adult Family Center of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn). She is also a certified clinical supervisor with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), further underscoring her extensive expertise in both education and clinical practice.

Dr. Tammy Nelson, a globally renowned speaker in the field of sex therapy - known for her TED talks and as the author of the Getting the Sex You Want - will deliver a lecture and demonstration on the topic of Sex and Couples Therapy. Dr. Nelson also serves as the Chair of the Human Sexuality and Counseling (HST) Department at Daybreak University.
Additionally, there will be a special lecture on Expressive Arts Therapy by Dr. Jane Goldberg, a clinical supervisor in expressive arts therapy with an extensive track record of excellence in this field.
Dr. Anne Prouty, widely recognized for her impactful lectures on diversity in marriage and family therapy, will deliver a keynote address on the topic of Diversity and Family Therapy (Diversity & MFT), offering insights into one of the most critical themes in the field.
A healing group workshop titled IPCST: Self-of-the-Therapist & Isomorphism (Inner Parent-Child System Therapy: Healing, Growth, and Isomorphism for Therapists) will be led by Dr. Jay Oh and Dr. Jin Kim, co-developers of the IPCST systemic family therapy techniques.
Furthermore, all conference participants will receive personalized research guidance from Daybreak University’s esteemed faculty and leading researcher, including Dr. Euna Park, Dr. Youngyoon Ha, Dr. Youngeun Kim, Dr. Sunja Youn, and Dr. Jeonghwa Yoon. This will be a unique opportunity for students to gain direct mentorship and support for their academic and clinical pursuits.

The ICCFR Conference brings together an exceptional group of professionals, including AAMFT (American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy) Approved Supervisors and licensed marriage and family therapists, internationally certified clinical instructors and therapists in Imago Relationship Therapy, and AASECT (American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists) Certified Supervisors and sex therapists. Additionally, experts from the Korean Association for Marriage and Family Therapy specializing in family counseling, couple counseling, inner child therapy, parent education, and child-rearing will participate. This international academic conference welcomes counseling psychologists, therapists, students in counseling fields, and anyone interested in the conference themes.
The content of the conference is organized by the International Institute for couples and Family Relationships (IICFR). It will be featured in official academic publications such as the Journal of Couple and Family Counseling Research, an accredited journal under the Korean Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and the forthcoming International Journal of Couples and Family Relationship Therapy (IJCFRT), the official journal of the newly established International Association for Couples and Family Relationship Therapy (IACFRT).
